Friends of Boky Mamiko is currently active in Northwest Madagascar, particularly in the districts of Ambanja (region Diana) and Bealanana (region Sofia). These are among the most disadvantaged areas in Madagascar due to their distance from the capital, Antananarivo, where most economic, educational, social, and political activities are concentrated. The poor condition of the national road system makes the physical distance from the capital (about 900 km) even longer (about a two-day journey). Aside from the tourist island of Nosy Be, the Diana region is known for its cocoa plantations along the Sambirano River. In turn, Sofia is an isolated and landlocked region, rich in agriculture, but where poverty and child marriages are endemic.

In these regions, we collaborate with several schools and student shelters, providing support according to their needs.
