Our Story

FBM was born by witnessing firsthand the transformational impact of the Swiss NGO Boky Mamiko in rural Northern Madagascar, inspiring us to add our contribution.

Boky Mamiko, which means “Books My Love” in Malagasy, was founded in Switzerland in 2018, initially to create and maintain libraries and schools in the region. A chapter in Italy followed in 2020. Recognized charities in their respective countries, they have expanded their work into the fields of quality education, employment creation, health and nutrition, and environmental protection.

The creation in 2025 of Friends of Boky Mamiko as a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization opens up opportunities for direct engagement by people in the United States with this urgent and fulfilling work.
